Doing DIY projects is a great way to revive your entire house and add a touch of your personality to its decor.

1. Improve Your Laundry Area

Nowadays, homeowners are giving their laundry areas the much needed attention it needs when it comes to decorating. Laundry can take a lot of your time and it makes sense to make it as warm and inviting as possible. Adding a folding table, replacing wire shelving with wood shelving and storing your laundry essentials like detergent in a decorative glass dispensers are just some of the ways you can do this weekend to give your laundry space an instant uplift.

2. Frame Bathroom Mirrors

If you have a basic, rectangular mirror in your bathroom held to the wall by some screws and glue, you can spruce it up without hurting your wallet. Instead of replacing it with a new one, you can frame it using a primed MDF baseboard moulding with cap and a paint colour of your choice. This project is easier than it sounds and it’ll give your mirror an elegant and professional look.

Reupholster your over-used and dirty ottoman the cheap way with a sturdy flat-weave rug instead of using an expensive fabric. Choose a rug with a nubby knit fabric and neutral colour and at least four times wider that your ottoman.

Replacing factory-issue knobs, cabinet pulls and drawer handles can create a notable impact on your room’s entire design and freshen up the look of your kitchen. 13. Patch Holes In The Wall

If you’re exhausted just by looking at the holes on your walls, covering them up is worthy for a weekend project. Using a putty knife and surfacing compound, you can easily and quickly conceal nail hall and minor cracks. Use an adhesive patch over the larger holes, and then apply an all-purpose drywall compound over it with a cloth. Paint over the patch once it dries out.

14. Recaulk A Bathroom

Recaulking is easier than it looks and it’s necessary if the caulk in your bathroom already looked dirty or discoloured. Old caulk tends to produce mildew and can sometimes cause leakage most especially between the tub and bathroom floor. Recaulking can be done in three easy steps: removing the old caulk, cleaning the area and replacing it with a good caulk seal which can last you up to a decade.

15. Build A Mud Room In Your Entryway

If you don’t have enough space in your home, a great alternative is to build a multi-purpose mudroom in your entryway. You can achieve the latest craze in interior design right now by simply adding a few molding, paint and hooks to an empty wall.
